10-day farmer training program at KVK, Hojai organised by Markazul Ma’arif (NGO)

Successful completion of 10-day farmer training camp at the initiative of Markazul Ma’arif

Special Reporter: Although Assam is an agrarian state, it is rare to see stakeholders of the society taking special and innovative steps for the betterment of farmers and agriculture as a means of livelihood. In view of this, Markazul Ma’arif, a voluntary organization founded by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal in Hojai, has taken a commendable step.  36 farmers from various remote places of Assam were trained in the camp. Scientific methods of farming while cultivating food and crash crops like paddy, jute, tamul, nurseries, etc and innovative animal rearing and animal husbandry etc. were showcased in the training camp. Methods  to cultivate different crops in the same land, how to benefit from different crops together, how to grow fish along with paddy, what are the benefits of fish as well as goat farming were also discussed at great length. The Training which was provided covered all aspects of agriculture and animal husbandry.

The inauguration ceremony of the ten-day farmers training camp organized under the initiative of Dhubri MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal and the management of Hojai Markjul Ma’arif was addressed by Mr, Jai Shankar Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Hojai, Bhava Prasad Nath ,Hojai District Fisheries Development Officer, Mr. Humeswar Kalita, Retired Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture, Government of Assam, etc.

The valedictory function was attended by Dr. Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, President of Markazul Ma’arif who is popularly known as ‘Vriksha Manav’, Prof. Rashid Ahmed, Vice President, Markazul Ma’arif, Hojai and Retired Professor of Rabindranath Tagore University, Mr. Khalilur Rahman Laskar, General Secretary of Markazul Ma’arif, Dewan Abdul Alim Chowdhury, Additional General Secretary, Markazul Ma’arif, Hojai, Mr. Jamal Uddin, Manager, Markazul Ma’arif, Hojai among others. All attendees expressed gratitude to Maulana Badruddin Ajmal and Markazul Ma’arif, Hojai. They openly acknowledged that this training will give a new impetus to their farmer life. They have been able to learn many new things from the Training Camp.
